Photoserve 2011 ~ Acuna, Mexico

Everything we see lately about Mexico in the media paints the picture of violence and destruction.  I was presented an opportunity to experience Mexico  to see first hand what this place actually was like.  I was so surprised  not from what I saw but what I found.  I found humanity, I found laughter, I found love!  Photoserve consisted of a team of photographers partnering with a wonderful organization called Casas Por Cristo.  Together through the heat, through the sweat and through the pure dedication we constructed a home for a single family to live in.  At first glance one would conclude the family had nothing to give.  The home that provided them shelter all these years was made from cardboard, sheets of metal and sticks.  What I really discovered was so remarkable and that was despite the lack of things this family clearly didn’t have they had everything to give.  They cooked for us, they sang for us, they loved us from the first moment we arrived.  They appreciated every drip of sweat we shed building them a new home.  All  along I thought we were giving this family something special but what I really found was this family gave me something special, I can’t even put it into words all I can say is my heart has grown larger, and my love has grown stronger and I found that God really is everywhere!
